86Sigma has announced the 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM superzoom lens. Offering a 13.9x zoom range in a body only slightly longer than the company’s current 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OS lens, this new model features an optical design of 18 elements in 14 groups, including four Special Low Dispersion elements and three aspherical elements to minimise aberrations. Designed for use on cameras with APS-C / DX sensors, the lens is expected to be available from March, for Sigma, Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Sony mounts.

Breathe Easy is an aeroponic growing system designed to improve home air quality. It utilizes toxin absorbing plants that clean the air and add humidity. It also doesn’t hurt to bring some of nature’s green indoors too. The plants are held in place by magnetic seals in the top opening. It’s a little confusing since the renders don’t say much but the familiar gel based nutrient substrate is tried and true. As an added touch, a row of LED lights line the bottom for some nice ground effects.

In recent years, numerous reports have surfaced pointing out all the poisons that linger in our air indoors. You’re really not to blame. It’s just most homes have poor air circulation. No matter how hard architects try, they can’t plan for variables like appliances and furniture, both of which contribute to the problem. Breathe Easy is an attempt (we’ve seen similar before) to address this problem in a natural way. Like previous concepts - the system isn’t self sustaining since plants require care, no matter how automated the system. My issue with the Breathe Easy are the exposed plant roots. To make it worse, the LED lights illuminate the root system, not the beautiful orchids above.

I’ve been itchin’ to use that cliche title for ages! Feels good to get that off my chest. I digress, the AQUA is obviously a submersible but one designed for exploration, fun, and possible a future when humans live in the oceans! This single-occupancy craft sails both on and under water using all the normal submersible tech like air to control buoyancy.

Aerodynamics Hydrodynamics are a priority so thanks to our friends the dolphins, AQUA will have you chasing deep ocean waves just like flipper without all the drag. Fun aside, do you think humans will eventually inhibit the deep oceans? Will personal submersibles provide the mode of transportation for future oceanic super highways?

I get loads of mail from PR agents and designers and at times spend 5 minutes trying to peel an address label off a box, either because I’m going to reuse it for return shipping or just to protect my identity before going to the recycling bin. It may seem trivial but identity theft in all forms are on the rise. Digging thru trash for people’s names and addresses is step one to a highway to hell for you as a victim.

The Tear Off Label is simple. It’s pre-scored to make obscuring your address a lot easier. Forget peeling (that never works), forget markers (that’s messy). This is one idea that’s easy to execute and cheap enough to produce into mass production.
