Interested in obtaining Panasonic’s 1-inch thick first-with-WirelessHD Z1 series 1080p plasma — before this summer? Hope you've got a good connect in Japan, because this baby is touching down April 20, complete with YouTube and 2.4GHz remote. Thanks to the slim 40,000:1 contrast ratio NeoPDP panel and ability to work without the usual assortment of cables it was born for stylish wall mounting in your appropriately adorned apartment as pictured above. Throw in half the power consumption of last year's PZ800 model and you've got a very attractive package. Checking in with ¥700,000 (about ,835) 54-inch, ¥600,000 (about ,715) 50-inch, and ¥550,000 ( about ,156) 46-inch models our jealousy extends far across the Pacific, but until these get a U.S. ship date and pricetag, your closest look lies within our CES gallery. Canon Pölyimuri / Keepin’ it real fake, part CLXXVIII: Canon doesn’t suck edition

You know what Canon doesn’t make? Right, Vacuum cleaners. Obvious to us but according to the site English Russian, a large Russian electronics supplier recently bought what they believed to be genuine Canon-made Vacuum cleaners. Why not, after all, that logo slapped all over the manuals and device is a straight rip from the Japanese company. The KIRF-co even has the audacity to host a Russian site registered to Gold Space Inc. at www.canon-electonics.com (the official Canon Electronics site is canon-elec.co.jp) which, ambient music aside, is nothing but a portal into an empty consumer abyss. A call to the company’s New York support number results in an “invalid number” recording. Surpising.

Sharp and Sony delay LCD joint venture, not that it matters
Kategoria: Viihde-elektroniikka | Jätä kommetti

The global economic downturn and rising Yen have claimed another victim: the LCD partnership between Sony and Sharp. The joint venture to make and sell large LCD panels has now been pushed to March 2010 — the same date that Sharp’s new LCD factory in Sakai is still scheduled to open. So one way or another you’ll be able to snag the next generation Sharp- or Sony-branded LCD television assuming, a) the companies survive, and b) you still have a job. What, too pessimistic? Sharp and Sony delay LCD joint venture, not that it matters originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 29 Jan 2009 06:06:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds. The PSP2 ‘Coming Soon’ and Featuring a Touchscreen? [Rumor]

The point of the touchscreen controlling in-game features is a big one, signaling that this is not the PSP-4000 we’re talking about but a full-fledged PSP2. (Hardware revisions that will wildly affect gameplay are reserved for new platforms.) It’s also fairly believable since Sony put the option into a recent customer poll. Of course, IGN’s release dates of “coming soon” and “on the horizon” have widely varied connotations. To me, that could mean “next week” or “next decade.” [IGN via Kotaku] In case I need to address the point, yes, that photo is just a concept. UPDATE from MCV source close to Sony (we’re guessing external PR?): “Clearly, being a quiet time of year, many, what we thought to be credible websites, are making up stories about PSP2, and how it allows you to teleport across the globe, travel through time, and will be powered by the horns of baby rhinoceroses.” Harsh! According to IGN, the next incarnation of the PSP is on its way. And it’s taking a few design cues from the iPhone. (Their words, really!) UPDATE: Close Sony Source Denies with Sass
